LIFT-Boston collaborated on a research project with PhD students from UMass Boston to better understand the impact of LIFT’s services on the well-being of clients. The process began last fall when board member, Luciano Ramos, Director of Community Partnerships at UMass Boston, initiated the collaboration with seven students from the McCormack Graduate School. The group conducted surveys, interviews, focus groups and direct observations with clients from both the Roxbury and Somerville offices, and completed the report in June.
LIFT’s essential expectations for the project were to know if clients are achieving their goals and improving their three dimensions of well-being – economic, internal and community. It is also important to understand LIFT-Boston’s role with the Circle of Promise and whether our work supports families and influences their children’s achievement.
“With the study we wanted to look deeper at outcomes and what those mean for clients. As we read the final report, I hope we will see that LIFT-Boston is effectively supporting clients and families within the Circle of Promise,” said Tim Potsaid, LIFT-Boston program manager.
