Matt Tully joins LIFT-New York as its Program Manager. With a passion in furthering human rights, Matt brings a wealth of experience in project management and relationship development.
As the Program Manager at LIFT – The Bronx, Matt is responsible for overseeing program operations and outcomes including the implementation of grants from Single Stop USA and the Robin Hood Foundation. Matt uses strengths-based approaches to support a team of AmeriCorps staff members, university students, social work interns, and Volunteer Advocates. Matt also serves as a visible spokesperson for LIFT by creating partnerships with a diverse array of community stakeholders ranging from human service providers, university partners, and government agencies.
Matt LIFTs because he is passionate about helping people to identify, magnify, and mobilize personal and community resources for positive change.
For over a decade, Matt has worked to further human rights and access to life-sustaining resources in challenging settings like military-ruled Burma, HIV-endemic Cameroon, and in low income communities in New York City. During his five years in Burma, Matt designed and managed several US funded projects that mobilized hundreds of youth leaders to further citizen-driven community development and participatory democracy throughout the country. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, Matt adapted to customs, languages, and challenging living conditions in order to effectively engage community stakeholders. More recently, Matt has served as LEAD Teacher for the International Rescue Committee where he cultivated healing classrooms for recently arrived refugee youth. Before joining LIFT’s national team, Matt proudly served as a Volunteer Advocate while completing his MSW at Fordham University. In addition to his advanced degree in social work, Matt also holds a Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from William Paterson University.
Please help us welcome Matt to the LIFT-New York team.
