We at LIFT-DC are very excited to announce the kick-off of the Savers’ Society! The Savers’ Society is a four-month program sponsored by JP Morgan Chase and The Prudential Foundation designed to help Members achieve their financial goals. Through a partnership with Capital Area Asset Builders, two groups of Members attended a financial boot camp and set goals for working with LIFT. Additional Members participated in individualized workshops led by financial AmeriCorps Fellows. As we enter our second month of the pilot, 52 Members are currently enrolled in Savers’ Society and working toward their financial goals!
In their follow up meetings, Members opened bank accounts, started savings plans, and began managing a budget. Members who participate through all four months have the opportunity to gain $65 in matched savings and meeting incentives. Through this pilot program, we have the exciting opportunity to experiment with offering services that vary from our traditional model as we explore how to best serve our Members. We are also able to partner with another local community partner in a way that we have not done before. We are excited at the possibilities of more permanent services that this pilot program could potentially yield!
