Through technical assistance partnerships with the DC Department of Human Services, LIFT-DC is promoting a human and family-centered approach in local government social service delivery. In 2021, LIFT-DC provided training and capacity building support to TANF case workers, enabling them to transition from traditional case management to holistic, 2-generation economic mobility coaching directly informed by LIFT’s model. LIFT-DC is currently in the process of finalizing a similar partnership with SNAP Employment & Training!
Follow-up surveys indicate that 100% of TANF frontline staff feel LIFT’s coaching model is effective and has the potential to lead to better economic mobility for clients, with one case coach saying, “My clients are more receptive, more motivated, and can better hold themselves accountable regarding goal attainment.” Another case coach observed, “The focus is around the clients and their goals and more clients are becoming employed.”
