One of the most exciting parts about working at LIFT is the relationships you build and the people you meet! LIFT also provides the opportunity for interns to get a chance to learn from every department and build networking opportunities to use for the future. Take a chance and learn a little bit about our interns!
CONNOR NUNNALEY
Charlotte, NC
Major: Accounting
Why did you decide to work at a non-profit?
It was one of the first opportunities that came up to me in my internship search and I knew that working at a nonprofit as an accountant is kind of traditionally a little bit different, just in terms of regulations being different and the way it operates is different than a big 4 operates. So, it was kind of giving me that well-rounded experience to add to a later job as an accountant.
What kind of impact do you want to make in your community?
As I am overseeing the financial operations of the company, I’m in charge of the member cash transfers, so I send out money to the members once they get their request. I just want to do whatever I can to make the process go smoothly and make sure the members get the money they need on time and at the right place and, when I see that work out as a success, it’s good. When I see there’s holes in the process, I like to clean those up and get on those right away to kind of smooth out the process. So, I would say that’s my closest thing to direct impact with some of the members here at LIFT.
How do you like our work environment? Relationships with other interns and employees?
I really like the laid back vibe here at LIFT. It’s not too high stress, yet everyone is still really productive and we all get work done, so it’s a really good company. I like how everyone is very accepting and nice. People ask each other questions and you feel like you can talk to anyone about anything at any time. The friendly vibe is really unique and getting to know the interns has been awesome.
